Meet Shelia Yu

Shelia-profile2Shelia earned her Master’s in Physiotherapy from Curtin University in 2005, following a bachelor’s degree in human Movement and Exercise Science from UWA in 2001. With a strong foundation in both exercise science and physiotherapy, she began her career in private practice while also contributing to academia—working as a tutor at UWA for the aerobics unit and as a lecturer and unit coordinator for the postgraduate Exercise Physiology program.

Dedicated to Learning

Dedicated to continuous learning, Shelia has completed three Pilates courses, most recently in 2017, and incorporates Pilates-based rehabilitation into her treatment approach. She has a particular passion for treating musculoskeletal conditions, with a strong focus on low back pain and movement-related injuries in the knees and shoulders.

Beyond clinical practice, Shelia is deeply passionate about health and fitness, recognizing the profound physiological and psychological benefits of regular exercise. She takes a hands-on, patient-centred approach to physiotherapy, striving to educate, inspire, and motivate individuals throughout their rehabilitation journey—even when recovery is slow and challenging.

Shelia holds additional qualifications in Level 1 Lymphoedema management, Functional Training, Kinesiology Taping, and run coaching. A fitness enthusiast herself, she has been a Group Fitness Instructor for 18 years, trained in six Les Mills programs. Her personal experience with regular training allows her to relate firsthand to common fitness injuries and the frustrations they can bring.

Outside The Office

Outside of work, Shelia enjoys running, spending time with her kids, gardening, and baking. She brings the same energy and dedication to her personal life as she does to helping her patients move, feel, and live better.
